Language: Analyzing Hillary Clinton's Deplorable Comment against Trump Supporters

Let's Begin with the Dictionary Definition of the term "Deplorable"

Before I left for work this morning, I pulled out my old hardcover Webster's Dictionary that I bought in 1990.  I wanted to see how bad a term "deplorable" is when Hillary chose it to describe half of all Trump supporters.

deplorable

ADJECTIVE

  • 1Deserving strong condemnation; completely unacceptable.
    ‘children living in deplorable conditions’

Since I'm online now, I wanted to go straight to the tree of the English language so I looked up the term "deplorable" in a British dictionary, the Oxford.

The synonyms used in the Oxford for the term deplorable are quite denigrating, aren't they?

Now let's look at this video of her describing Trump supporters as deplorable

Right below is the comment with Hillary Clinton saying that half of Trump supporters are a basket of deplorable people.

This makes me wonder what she thinks about the other half of Trump supporters.

When you put together what deplorable means and stands for  -- with what she thinks of people who support Donald Trump -- this is what you get:

According to what Hillary thinks about Trump supporters, we see that she regards at least half of all Trump supporters as "deserving strong condemnation and are completely unacceptable."

Moreover, if we look at her comment categorizing Trump supporters as deplorable, she means that we're a class of people who are shameful, "dishonourable," unworthy, disreputable, unworthy, unforgivable, unpardonable.

Wow!

Now, I have to ask myself a very important question:

Who invited her to present herself as the standard spokesperson of what or who is worthy, reputable, honorable, pardonable, forgivable?

Then this brings me to an even more important question:

What is there for her to forgive?  All that Trump supporters are doing is exercising the right to choose what set of principles they deem more proper in a national head of state.

Isn't that what elections are for?

Maybe, maybe not.

I do know that according to Hillary, being a bunch of things that are opposed to the canon of political correctness makes one a deplorable person as her video above evinces.

I also know that too often being politically incorrect has earned many people enough demerits to be on the receiving end of creed discrimination.  I've read anecdotes that some universities have disinvited speakers on account of their political views. There are even books published such as " The Intimidation Game: How the Left Is Silencing Free Speech"  by Kimberley Strassel.
